Internship

Internship qualifications:

ShowFab can start you off on what could turn out to be a career in the scenery business. An internship at ShowFab will expose you to state of the art techniques and currently employed industry practices while working side by side with some of the business’s best artisans. On any given day you could be working on a Broadway set, a game show, a cooking show, a sports program, a corporate display or a national tour.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

Applicants must have recently received a degree in technical theater or related program, or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or have a combination of education and experience related to technical and/or design development in theater or entertainment. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.  Please be available for a full time commitment of 8-26 weeks.

CNC Operator
ShowFab is actively seeking an experienced CNC operator. Our ideal candidate will have expertise in a variety of innovative CNC manufacturing solutions such as Fiber Lasers, Waterjets, Routers, 3D Wiring/Milling machines and Press brakes. 

The CNC Operator position at ShowFab handles:

  • Loading and unloading of raw materials for production processing

  • Troubleshooting of files and NC code through machine and software interfaces

  • The operation of lifting assistance systems such as chain hoists, winches, and vacuum lifting apparatus

  • Communicating with Shop craftsmen, engineers and team leaders to adapt to changes in project criteria.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Ability to consistently and safely operate CNC machines

  • Familiarity with CNC equipment, G-Code, mechanical systems, and materials is a plus, but not required.

  • Familiarity with CAD and CAM software packages such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, Sigmanest, Enroute, Artcam, and Illustrator

  • Must be highly organized, team player, capable of troubleshooting frequently and adapting to quickly changing project demands

  • Ability to preform daily maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems

Technical Designer
ShowFab is actively seeking an experienced and an entry level Designer. Our ideal candidate will have technical and fabrication expertise in a variety of industries, such as Television and Theater, Live Events, Exhibits, Art Fabrication, Architecture and Furniture.
 

The Technical Designer position at ShowFab handles:

  • Utilizing CAD/CAM and other Software to design fabrication solutions for a team of highly skilled and dedicated craftsmen.

  • Utilizing software to create pre-visualization and design concepts to assist PM team with bidding and job procurement.

  • Collaborate daily with Clients and other Project Stakeholders.

  • Survey work sites, venues, specialty equipment and technology.

  • Work with Architects and Structural Engineers to tailor solutions to meet design criteria, such as structural needs, safety, and changing design scope.

  • Contacting vendors to source material, samples and cut sheets.

  • Prototyping of design concepts

  • Designing for modern automated fabrication equipment like CNC Routers, Lasers, Press Brakes, and Water Jet Technology.

 

The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience (Shop and practical Fabrication experience a plus)

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft, Adobe, and Google work suites

  • A degree in higher education in a relevant field or industry

  • Technical familiarity with fabrication techniques and standard in a number of industries and materials.
